Although we knew from physics class, academic literature, and those cool "shake" flashlights that the concept worked, it was a good moment when we were actually able to see what we expected to see.

Team member Chris donated a mountain bike shock absorber to the cause. One of the tubes was wrapped with transformer winding wire as shown in the photo.

A magnet attached to a rod was inserted into the tube; when the magnet was moved up and down the tube a voltage was observed in the winding wire.
